I’m a thirty-something girl who lives and works in Pittsburgh, PA. Inspired by the tiny house movement, I decided to embark on building my own small but not tiny home. I started a company called urbanHAUS properties which has one mission: beautify Pittsburgh’s vacant, urban infill lots one small house at a time. My eco-conscience guides every decision in this process. urbanHAUSes are energy star rated, solar-powered, and non-toxic to the environment. Each one is thoughtfully designed to fit its site, sustainable, and comfortable.
This blog is a chronicle of the making of each urbanHAUS from start to finish. Get a behind the scenes look at the design decisions, pitfalls and successes and general musings about this process. Ultimately, watch a piece of land go from an empty vacant lot to a place called home.
